The United States must aim for nothing less than the top position in the cryptocurrency industry, according to former U.S. president Donald Trump.

“Our country must be the leader in the field, there is no second place,” Trump declared in a May 25 post on Truth Social — a social media platform owned by Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG).

“I am very positive and open-minded towards cryptocurrency companies, and all things related to this new and burgeoning industry,” he asserted, before criticizing current President Joe Biden, his opponent in the 2024 presidential race with US election day scheduled for November 4.

“CROOKED JOE BIDEN, ON THE OTHER HAND, THE WORST PRESIDENT IN THE HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY, WANTS IT TO DIE A SLOW AND PAINFUL DEATH. THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN WITH ME!”

Trump’s remarks came ahead of his scheduled speech at the Libertarian Party’s National Convention in Washington on the same day.

Trump’s recent favorable stance on crypto has heightened expectations within the cryptocurrency industry regarding his potential victory.

According to Polymarket, a New York-based crypto prediction platform, Trump currently has a 56% chance of winning the election, compared to President Joe Biden’s 38% chance.
